Artist Statement:

Tal Dvir, 40, is a resident of southern California pursuing his fast-growing career as an impressionist artist. By the age of three, Tal exhibited a natural talent for art. His mother encouraged him to develop his talent and at age 16, Tal was admitted to the prestigious “Witzo” Art School in Tel Aviv where he cultivated the technical skill-sets necessary to compliment his natural abilities. Tal practiced under professor Rosen, famed for his anatomical drawings and realistic compositions.
At 18, Tal began his serving three years compulsory service in the Israeli army, experiencing firsthand the bonds of war in a hostile Middle East. The experience had a profound, lasting impact on Tal’s approach to his art. "Living with the same people in very close quarters for three years provided a stronger self-awareness, a truer sense of my own complexities that manifest in the way the brush hits the canvas."
Tal arrived back in Tel Aviv and studied two additional years at “Meimad” Visual Art School and “Kalisher” School of Art, notably with reputable and respected professors – Maya Cohen-Levi, Asaf Ben-Zvi, and the late Michale Segen-Cohen.
Although Tal spent his formative years in the city, he was always attracted to the landscapes of the countryside. After a one year stint in New York, he moved to Ztfat in the north of Israel, seeking new inspiration to develop his bold impressionist style. He quickly gained a new appreciation for detail while staying rooted in his influence by the great masters: Van Gogh, Sezann, Pissaro and others.

In 2000, after having exhibited his work in several group shows, bars and cafés in Tel- Aviv, Tal held his first exhibition titled “Dialogue” as a joint show with his close friend and artist Juan Carlos Bronshtane. The name “Dialogue” represented the open and almost telepathic interaction between two friends. The exhibition was an instant success with positive reviews published in several local publications and most paintings sold by the end of the exhibition.

True to his form, relentless seeking new inspiration, Tal migrated to the US with his wife and two children in 2006. Currently concentrating on a series of cityscapes, Tal continues to develop his style. Increasingly, the work is revealing the “push” and “pull” between city and rural living.

Tal Dvir is a mature artist who effortlessly navigates his way through his art.

“My main goal as an artist is to evoke a contemplative moment for the viewer, to whisk them away, even for a split second. To get them out of themselves, albeit for an ever so fleeting moment.” Tal Dvir lives and creates in Irvine California, inspired by the Californian cities and landscapes You can visit Tal’s web site at: www.taldvir.com
